In 2008, the 25 years Wilmington Tradition "Cape Fear Festival of Trees" shut down with tremendous community sadness. In 2011, just 3 years after we began our success with The Nutcracker, we joined forces with Minnie Evans Performing Arts Center, Ashley High School Complex, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, and The Star News to create a Holiday Extravaganza to re-invent the Festival of Trees and bring this beloved tradition back to the Cape Fear Area. The festival has since become a beloved tradition at The Cameron Art Museum. Our dancers continue to support the festival by bringing Nutcracker characters annually to the festival.
The Wilmington Ballet Company has also collaborated with the Wilmington Symphony, The Wilmington Youth Symphony, The Watson School of Education UNCW, The Cultural Arts Dept of UNCW, The Children's Museum, Cameron Art Museum, Stage Works Youth Drama Group, The Chinese American Association, The Mexican American Association, Traditional Hawaiian Group, Puppeteers of America, Duke University African Dance, The Azalea Festival, and many more in order to bring innovative Ballet & Dance works to Wilmington, NC.
Wilmington Ballet Company has brought guest artists to both perform and offer workshops locally since 1999. Joffrey Dance Ensemble, North Carolina Dance Theater II, Raleigh Dance Theater, Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Dance Theater, Carolina Ballet, and Summer Dance Company are just some of the renowned organization that WBC has brought to the Cape Fear Region.
